Care and Maintenance for your Extensions:

You can wash and style your REMY HAIR just as you do your natural hair. Washing your Remy hair is very important. You need to shampoo, condition and moisturize your extensions every 5-7 days (depending on the use). Wash them gently in a downward motion avoiding rubbing between palms so the open cuticles do not get damaged with friction. While you can blow-dry, curl and straighten them according to your style, it is suggested to air dry them as much as you can. Always keep in mind that Remy Hair can get damaged just like your own hair. With proper care and maintenance your extensions will last longer. Remember these extensions were part of someone’s hair which had been nourished and well taken care of and will respond well when treated with same care and dignity.

HAIR CARE

How can I keep my hair hydrated and manageable all day?

Leave-in conditioner is the best accessory for your hair after shampooing and conditioning. Our leave-in conditioner gives your hair the perfect blend of moisture and UV protection without weighing it down. This will also help keep the hair hydrated and manageable between shampoos.

What is co-washing and is it necessary?

Co-washing is short for conditioner-only washing. Some people prefer co-washing because using shampoo can sometimes strip the hair of it's natural oils, leading to dry and brittle hair. Co-washing is recommended for curly textures to help keep the hair hydrated and less frizzy. Always remember to use high quality sulfate free products.

Should I wash my hair before I install it?

Absolutely! The shipping process sometimes flattens the hair and a nice wash or co-wash can really bring it back to life.

Hair problems like tangling and matting are usually related to a maintenance issue or hair care regimen. Since all hair is natural and can vary from batch to batch, it's important to use the right hair care products.

What products should I use on my hair?

We only recommend high quality hair care products. Always choose sulfate-free products. Avoid using cheap products found at your local drug or grocery store. These products contain chemicals that can dry out the hair. In addition, your local stores often stock old product which can cause certain chemical agents within the product to be deactivated.

How often should I wash my hair?

We recommend shampooing and conditioning the hair at least once a week using professional grade products. If you have Clip-On extensions this will be about every fourth wear. Since the hair is no longer attached to a live root, properly cleansing and conditioning your extensions is crucial.

  • Over shampooing (more than 3-4 times a week) will lead to drying out the hair.

  • Under shampooing (less than once a week) can lead to build up, which will cause tangling and matting.
